Specialists: Dr Leigh Sheppard Clinic / Dr. Leigh Sheppard

Dr Leigh Sheppard is a medical practitioner with general registration (AHPRA) and a longstanding clinical and advocacy interest in Obsessive-Compulsive & Related Disorders, neurodivergence, and their intersection. In private practice, she offers medical assessment, care planning, and structured psychoeducation for clients navigating OCD, intrusive thoughts, health anxiety, perfectionism and related presentations, alongside general support for overall health and wellbeing.

Her consultations focus on helping clients understand their presentation and the evidence base behind therapies such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, recognising that these psychological therapies are delivered by appropriately qualified psychologists and other clinicians. Where formal therapy is indicated, Dr Sheppard works alongside clients’ treating psychologists, psychiatrists, and GPs, and supports referral where needed. Her approach is values-led, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming.

Alongside private practice, Dr Sheppard is the Founder and Chairperson of OCD WA, Western Australia’s peer-led OCD nonprofit, and is leading the initiative to bring the International OCD Foundation’s Behaviour Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) to Perth. She is an international conference speaker and advocate for accessible, evidence-based OCD care.

She brings lived-experience insight to her clinical work, where clinically relevant and offers both in-clinic and telehealth consultations.
